At Core UK Electrical, our emergency electricians come with a 1-hour minimum charge, with the aim to begin work within the hour (subject to availability). After the first hour, we charge in 15-minute increments to ensure you only pay for the time needed.

Priority emergency attendance comes at no extra cost and we do not charge for callouts. We aim to be on-site within 1 hour.

Our emergency electricians aim to be at your property within the hour, no matter the date or time. Our call centre is open 24/7, meaning that we are able to deal with serious and urgent electrical concerns at any time, minimising the amount of damage, and ultimately, costs.

It is important to remain calm in the event of an emergency. Whilst waiting for your electrician to arrive, you should:

• Turn off the main power supply if you’re able, and it’s safe to do so

• Avoid the affected area or outlet

• Inform other people on the property of the hazard and ensure they also maintain a safe distance

• Report any damaged power lines or equipment if the emergency is external to your property

Do not try to resolve the issue yourself – we aim to be at your property within an hour to ensure the issue is dealt with safely and in a timely manner.

Electrical emergencies can differ in severity. However, you should contact an emergency electrician if you experience:

Power Outages: A sudden power outage can be a big warning sign. If your transformer interface isn’t the issue, it could indicate there are frayed or weak wires in your electrical system. You should contact your service provider to see whether the problem is with them, but if not, you should contact an emergency electrician as you could be at risk of an electrical fire.

Burnt Outlets or Burning Smells: brown stains on your sockets or burning smells coming from your cables, electrical outlets, walls, or appliances indicate that your outlets are burning or melting. If you notice any strange ‘fishy’ odours near an outlet, call an emergency electrician immediately. Left unresolved, burning outlets can lead to severe electrical fires.

Noisy Fuse Boxes: A noisy fuse box isn’t a good sign. A circuit breaker protects your fuse box by causing it to “trip” or stop if the electrical current encounters an obstruction or becomes overloaded. This is a safeguarding feature.  A breaker box that is overloaded and fails to trip is a shock and fire hazard.

Electrical sparks: If your outlet is consistently sparking, it’s crucial that you contact an electrician, as this could be as sign of wiring issues or a circuit overload. As a result, you’re at risk of fires and electrical shocks.
